Train Journal - 1995

Mon. Apr. 3, 1995 - Left Dunsmuir at 9:30 am on short train - quick acceleration. Hope it's not the Black Butte Turn. Lot's of empty boxcars but very short train. Went in the hole at Azalea to let pig/stack train run around us. Stopped at Upton, then left. Fast ride to Klamath - got in at 1:30 pm. Caught back down at 5:30 pm. Nice day.

Wed. Apr. 26, 1995 - It's 8:20 pm and I'm waiting at Black Butte for a northbound to finish switching. I saw my moniker in a boxcar from 12/1/92 when I rode from Klamath to Carlin and back to Roseville! Talked to Roger Bryant and he said he would like to do a book with me!

Wed. May 3, 1995 - Leaving Dunsmuir at 7:10 pm, headed to Klamath. Coming into Klamath at 11:30 pm - raining!

Mon. May 15, 1995 - It's 6:30 pm and I'm waiting at Black Butte. Been here about an hour. Northbound is leaving Dunsmuir now. Two trains went by - now one is stopping at 8:50 pm! Leaving BB at 9:20 pm.

Tue. May 30, 1995 - Leaving Black Butte at 5:40 pm.

Mon. June 19, 1995 - Hanging out in caboose at Black Butte at 5:30 pm - raining!

Sun. Dec. 17, 1995 - It's 11:15 am and I'm hanging out in a MofW boxcar waiting for a train in Dunsmuir. Light overcast and cold - no wind or rain, though. At 11:45 am a northbound pulled in and I found a nice clean boxcar with all doors open. At 12:15 pm a northbound beet train passed us on the main. At 12:45 pm we got our air. Talked with Montana Bull in the yard. At 12:55 pm we dropped the air - a setout? Train back together at 1:15 pm. Waiting for brakeman to walk back up to head end. Leaving yard at 1:25 pm. Stopped just north of depot at 1:45pm to set out car with flat spots on wheels. Re-connected at 2:00 pm. Out of town (finally) at 2:05pm!
