Hopping Freights — part 5

Headed east in January 1979 on a UP piggyback/autorack train somewhere between Elko and the Utah border. After freezing most of the day riding under a trailer I made my way up to the last unit when we stopped on a siding and watched the sun set (and the temperature drop) as we crawled up a hill. This was the first time that I noticed how incredibly efficient a cab heater is when it's cranked up all the way and you're sitting right next to it.
